Job Title: Deputy Superintendent

FLSA: Exempt
Term of Employment: 240 days
Job Summary:
Assisting the Superintendent in providing effective leadership in the development, achievement, and maintenance of the best possible educational program and services.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in educational administration or leadership
- South Carolina Certificate, license or other legal state credential required
- At least three (3) years’ successful experience in teaching
- At least five (5) years successful experience in an administrative or supervisory role
- Eligible for South Carolina Superintendent Certification by July 2025
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as district administration may find appropriate and acceptable
Essential Duties:
- Supports and upholds the mission, vision, and strategic goals of Georgetown County School District
- Establishes a safe, supportive, positive, and productive learning and working environment
- Works closely with the Superintendent as a strategic partner and assists in providing administrative coordination of supervision of work and personnel of all departments and schools
- Leads curriculum development, instruction, and student achievement across the district
- Directly supervises the Academics and Student Services Department
- Collaborates with district administration and schools to develop instructional programs and to implement models designed to improve the achievement of all students
- Assists in supervising the principals, including responsibility for supporting their growth and development
- Develops agendas for Joint Leadership meetings
- Works in concert with other Executive Leadership administrators to ensure effective development and implementation of the strategic plan
- Responsible for day-to-day internal operations of the district and acts in place of the Superintendent in the Superintendent’s absence
- Keeps the Superintendent properly informed regarding developments essential to the effective management of the school operations
- Coordinates administrative grievance procedures
- Assists other District administrators as needed to respond to administrative problems, needs, requests, issues, etc.
- Attends all scheduled and called Board Meetings and presents information as requested
- Participates in professional meetings, education conferences, and training workshops
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent
