What are the responsibilities and job description for the Steward position at JB Duke Hotel?
Responsibilities: Managing domestic concerns as a member of the stewards. Maintaining all aspects of kitchen sanitation, and Caf sanitation.
Duties:
1. Report to work dressed in proper attire and on time following proper clock in/out procedure as outlined in the employee handbook.
2. Ensure cleanliness and proper storage of all pots, pans, and other utensils.
3. Ensure cleanliness of sink and pot area after every shift.
4. Ensure proper washing and storage of all dishes, glassware, and silverware.
5. Sweep and mop floors as instructed.
6. Keep dish machine cleaned at all times.
7. Empty all garbage and clean cans when needed.
8. Supervises daily cleaning of al food and beverage areas as instructed. Including walls, ceiling, lights, equipment, receiving dock, etc.
9. Assist culinary in receiving and storing of items as needed.
10. Maintain rear receiving dock, trash room, & mop areas and keep in a clean & orderly fashion.
11. Ensure work area is clean at all times.
12. Assist Banquet kitchen with plate preparation as necessary.
13. Support and participate in hotel recycling program.
14. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Steward, or Culinary Management team.

NOTE: This hotel operates seven days a week, twenty four hours a day. I am aware that at times it will be necessary to move me from my accustomed shift if business demands. I also understand that business determines the amount of hours I work. Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of this position at any time.
To do this kind of work, you must be able to: Have the physical ability to handle work load and work harmoniously with other employees.
Physical Demands: : Lifting 60 pounds maximum with frequent bending, lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
Math Skills: Requires mathematical development sufficient to be able to: Add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
Language Skills: Must have developed English skills to the point to be able to: Communicate well orally with other employees and read any labels, instructions, etc. as needed.
Relationships to Data, People and Things:
Data: Coordination: Determination of time, place, and sequence of operations or actions to be taken on the basis of analysis of data, as well as executing determination and/or reporting on events.
People: Supervising: Determining or interpreting work procedures while maintaining harmonious relations among the Stewarding Department. A variety of responsibilities is involved in the function.
Things: Handling: Using body members, hand tools, and/or special devices to work, move, or carry objects or materials, Involves little or no latitude for judgment with regard to attainment of standards or in selecting appropriate tool, object or material
