Who we’re looking for
This role is responsible for transactional support and the procurement of steel needed to support our production shop. This role involves researching and negotiating best-price contracts with suppliers, maintaining exceptional vendor relations, and collaborating with internal departments to achieve cost-efficient and timely procurement solutions.
The ideal candidate must be capable of maintaining a high standard of professional knowledge, ethics and practices when dealing with customers, suppliers, peers, supervisors and other key stakeholders of the company.
Your workday might look like this
- Oversee all aspects of steel purchasing to ensure timely & cost-effective procurement.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with company objectives.
- Evaluate potential suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and quality standards.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure the best possible terms and conditions.
- Coordinate with the production shop to anticipate and respond to inventory needs.
- Implement efficient processes to minimize delays and disruptions in production.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
- Manage material requirements, planning and purchase order requisition process.
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory database.
- Forecast and track expected usage of materials per project to ensure sufficient supply.
- Adjust procurement plans based on project timelines and material requirements.
- Monitor supplier performance and address any issues that may arise. Ensure suppliers fulfill their contractual obligations and deliver on time.
- Work closely with Designers, Accounting, Quality Control, Shipping, and Receiving departments, providing support and insights to enhance overall operations.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, preferably in the steel industry.
- Experience with ERP software and advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Strong track record of successful contract negotiations and supplier management.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
You’ll really stand out if you Have
- Bachelor’s degree: Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Relevant certifications in procurement or supply chain management.
- The ability to speak both English and Spanish.
