Title: Sample Sewer
Location: Hawthorne, CA 90250
Pay Range: $21.00 – $23.00 per hour
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8am – 4:30pm
Duration: 8 – 12 weeks
Employee must be vaccinated against covid and able to provide proof prior to starting
Job Summary: The Sewer is responsible for establishing pattern blocks and grading Michael Stars clothing. This position oversees factory patterns, ensuring that all samples meet our production specifications. The sewer is responsible for documenting and communicating changes to patterns, and ensuring the original integrity of production garments is maintained.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Have 5 years of experience
- Must have Knowledge and experience in complete garment construction and cut samples when is need
- Must be detail oriented
- Should be able to read sewing instructions in English
- Experience in industrial sewing machine (single needle, overlock, cover stitch, merrow, and button hole)
- Meet deadlines; maintain quality work, able to work individually as on a team
- Ability to communicate with patternmakers (English and Spanish)
- Includes repeating task maintain high quality results
- Manage time according to project deadlines
- Highly motivated, detailed and dedicated
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear
- Frequently required to use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms
- Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Visions requirements: close vision, distant vision, as well as ability to adjust and focus
