The Sandra and Leon Levine Jewish Community Center is a non-profit organization committed to providing diverse social, educational, recreational, and cultural programs within a Jewish setting. As an affiliated member of the JCC Association of North America and a beneficiary agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte, the LJCC fosters a sense of belonging and community engagement for individuals of all backgrounds.

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Director of Member & Guest Services at the Levine JCC provides leadership for all membership operations, overseeing recruitment, retention, community relations, customer service, Distinctive Membership sales, and facility amenities including locker and towel service. This director-level position ensures exceptional service standards for current and prospective members while fostering teamwork, cooperation, and professionalism within the department. The Director connects staff to the broader JCC organization through regular meetings and communication channels and actively participates in center-wide initiatives and program delivery as directed by the Chief Executive Officer, contributing to the overall mission of the community center.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement a cohesive Membership Program with incentives and rewards for new and existing members.
  • Communicate the value of Levine JCC Membership to staff, members, program users, and partner organizations.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of membership products and services through trend analysis, data compilation, and market comparison.
  • Responsible for annual budget development, membership rate recommendations, and strategic planning.
  • Actively utilize resources including JCC Association for best practices to recruit, retain, and recapture members.

Membership Management

  • Oversee the Distinctive Membership program, including plaque displays, renewal statements, and stewardship activities.
  • Develop and analyze monthly membership statistical reports for the CEO, CFO and Board of Directors.
  • Lead the annual membership renewal process and collaborate with the Controller on financial matters.
  • Serve on the Levine JCC Scholarship Committee, managing the application process and decisions.

Team Leadership

  • Hire, train, and develop Member & Guest Services Associates, providing professional development opportunities.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff performance, ensuring annual evaluations are completed.
  • Foster a safe, healthy, and engaging work environment for the membership team.

Program Development

  • Plan and implement member engagement programs/special events annually.
  • Assist with coordination of the Annual Meeting and other general membership events.
  • Participate in agency-wide programs as assigned by the CEO or direct supervisor.
  • Collaborate on marketing initiatives for membership products and services

Administrative Management

  • Ensure the membership office is well-maintained with necessary supplies.
  • Oversee cleanliness and organization of the membership office and storage spaces.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as directed by the CEO and Senior Leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid Preferred.
  • 5-10 years of administrative experience in membership, sales, or service.
  • Prior experience supervising and managing a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation with emphasis on diplomacy and discretion.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Salary range for this position is $60,000 - $65,000.

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn Judaic culture and traditions (holidays, rituals, customs).
  • Ability to articulate the influence of Judaic culture on programs to members and staff.
  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness.
  • Positive attitude that contributes to a harmonious workplace.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Understanding of different leadership styles and their impact on staff well-being.
  • Flexibility to adjust working schedule to accommodate Membership department needs

Decision Making by Co-determination:

The Director of Membership makes independent decisions regarding responsiveness to member concerns and the daily functioning of the Membership department. The Director of Member & Guest Services communicates on a regular basis with and supports the guidance and direction offered by the Chief Impact Officer and apprises the Chief Impact Officer of any challenges that are currently being faced in a timely manner.
