Principal Responsibilities :
We are a nonprofit organization on the south shore of Long Island seeking an experienced Controller to manage the accounting department. This position will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, and managing all financial-related activities within our organization. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills, a record of successful financial management, an understanding of back-office operations, and the ability to build trusting relationships with staff, volunteers, and philanthropic supporters.
Minimum Qualifications :
Knowledge and Skills Requirements :
- Experience in financial forecasting.
- Knowledge of internal controls, cash management, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and cash flow projections.
- Ability to coordinate and direct budgeting and financial planning.
- Analyze and interpret financial data and recommend changes to improve systems and financial performance.
- Responsible for developing and managing departmental and agency budgets with the CEO and other Department Heads.
- Distribute departmental financial reports internally and work with department personnel to analyze variances.
- Prepare presentation materials for Audit Committees and Board.
- Board-level experience (volunteer or other) interacting with lay leadership.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate and manage at all levels of the organization.
- Strong problem-solving skills with sound judgment.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills in a not-for-profit and / or for-profit environment.
- Analyze and interpret financial data and recommend changes to improve systems and financial performance.
Salary : 120,000 - $135,000
