Principal Responsibilities:
Title: Early Childhood Administrative Assistant
Reports to: Early Childhood Education Director
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 12:45 pm-5:45 pm
Status: Part-Time hourly, non-exempt
Exciting opportunity to join our team as an Early Childhood Administrative Assistant at the Binghamton JCC! We are seeking a proactive and organized individual who is passionate about supporting early childhood education, staff, and families through both hands-on classroom support and essential administrative functions.
This individual will be instrumental in responding to classroom needs, organizing documentation, distributing materials, and ensuring a smooth flow of daily operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility, strong attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, child-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Support & Leadership
- Respond promptly to classroom needs involving behavior, illness, or general support.
- Provide backup coverage during periods of increased staff absences and adjust to evolving daily schedules.
- Act as a site supervisor during afternoon hours and in the absence of other leadership staff.
Administrative Duties
- Create and maintain accurate staff and student files in accordance with OCFS regulations.
- Organize and distribute project materials and communications for school-wide events such as Purim, Literacy Day, Muffins with Mom, and others.
- Manage collection and dissemination of surveys, classroom themes, and program items.
- Support documentation, recordkeeping, and communication tasks related to CACFP and billing responsibilities.
General Operations
- Collaborate with the Early Childhood Education Director and Curriculum Manager to support compliance and readiness across all classrooms.
- Assist with maintaining records for event participation, classroom inventories, and staff scheduling changes.
- Provide administrative coverage at the front desk as needed.
- Other duties as needed to provide support for ECE Director and JCC
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in Early Childhood, Education, or Office Administration preferred.
- Experience in early childhood, school office, or customer service settings are highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and open to learning internal systems.
- Collaborative team player who thrives in a mission-driven, community-based organization.

Since its inception in 1927, the Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Binghamton, NY has grown to become an essential part of the Broome County community. As a full-service, non-profit organization, the JCC provides educational, cultural, recreational, and physical fitness programs to enhance the quality of life for all ages, from infants to senior citizens. As a non-sectarian United Way partner, the Center welcomes participants regardless of age, race, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, or ability to pay.
The JCC's facility houses a natatorium with a 2250 sq. ft. pool, gymnasium, small fitness center, men's and women's health clubs, steam, sauna, a fitness loft with spin bikes and Pilates reformers, stage, auditorium, and more. Over 200 children are served daily at our award-winning Early Childhood Center. Our year-round educational childcare includes UPK, after-school program, summer camp, and youth sports offerings.
The 8-acre land also features outdoor tennis/pickleball and basketball courts, pavilion, nature preserve, soccer field, and three age-appropriate playground facilities.
