Job Description
The Urban Forestry Part-Time Worker will provide assistance to the Urban Forestry Supervisor with tree and shrub care, the care and use of related equipment, tree related projects, and help maintain JCPRD's nursery operations.
The position is designed to provide a broad set of essential duties which include:
- Responsibilities include mowing, string trimming, mulching, and grounds maintenance etc.
- May operate equipment and trucks as trained, assigned, and licensed.
- Understanding and carrying out verbal and written instructions.
- Assisting with tree removals, pruning, and debris disposals.
-Safely using tools and equipment like chippers, stump grinders, and chainsaws to carry out maintenance tasks.
-Inspecting equipment and tools and preforming repairs and maintenance when required.
- Using the appropriate gear and observing safety protocols.
-Extracting and disposing of invasive plants.
-Planting and watering of new and young trees.
-Assist in JCPRD's nursery operations.

Compensation begins at $15.00/hr.
Job Requirements
- Minimum age 18.
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent and an interest in natural resource management with preference given to individuals with advanced course work in the field.
- Must possess valid driver’s license and have a good driving record verified through a background check.
- Ability to work outdoors and tolerate the climate and conditions of natural areas typical to NE Kansas.
JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department.
