What you will do:
The specific duties include but are not necessarily limited to the following:
- Maintain the Production, Staging, and Development databases that support the Institute’s various IRMB applications deployed in both on-prem and cloud environments
- Provide administrative support for Oracle databases, SQL Server databases, MySQL databases, Oracle clients, and SQL Server Reporting environments
- Ensure the Government user base can access the data residing in their IT systems
- Monitor and maintain nightly and monthly maintenance of the database servers, including evaluating current patches and follow-on patching of database software and security updates, maintaining standby databases, and performing routine maintenance tasks
- Work with other teams for database related support such as refreshing data in test, recovering data from tables, providing production release support, setting up communication between COTS products and Oracle/SQL Server, resolving system vulnerabilities, etc.
- Provide performance tuning
- Conduct database backup and recovery
- Maintain accounts, roles, and privileges
- Install, configure, and upgrade database servers
- Check the health of all databases and servers daily including Oracle, SQL server, and MySQL
- Execute DDL and DML when needed
- Perform troubleshooting
- Provide database support in DMZ and Azure cloud
- Conduct cloud assessment and virtualization
- Author and maintain Standard Operating Procedures that provide a framework for planning and performing the maintenance eon the Government’s database and report servers
- Migrating all databases to a Unity platform
What you will bring:
Required Skills and Experience:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust and/or have an Active SECRET or TS/SCI is required.
- BA/BS in a technical field such as Computer Science, Information Systems, IT, or related field. BA/BS in Communications, Training and Development, Instructional Design, or a related field.
- Hands-on Oracle Database Administrator with 10 years of working experience
- Hands-on MySQL Database Administrator with 5 years of working experience
- Demonstrated Linux and Windows operating system experience (Oracle Linux preferred)
- Experience supporting cloud-based database technologies such as Microsoft Azure
- Experience in backup and recovery, especially the use of RMAN and export/import required
- Familiar with MySQL tools like mysqldump and mysqlbinlog
- Experience in using BASH shell and tools such as tar, gzip, and OpenSSL
- Experience in Oracle Data Guard, Grid Control, GoldenGate, Multitenant, APEX, and Connection Manager required
- Experience in Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) required
- Experience in MySQL replication and encryption required
- Strong SQL and PL/SQL skill. The skill in T-SQL is preferred
- Strong database troubleshooting and performance tuning skills, especially in Oracle
- Experience in installing, upgrading, and configuring database servers
- Knowledge in cluster and VM environments
- Understanding of DMZ architectures
