Position Overview:
The ideal candidate for this role will possess strong knowledge of heavy-duty vehicle body repair, equipment repair cost estimation, and specialized tools. They will be responsible for performing advanced diagnostics and repairs on heavy-duty vehicles, executing major body repairs, structural verification, and painting tasks, providing accurate repair cost estimates, training and mentoring junior technicians, utilizing specialized tools and equipment for maintenance tasks, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of vehicle maintenance principles, methods, and techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on heavy-duty vehicles
- Execute major body repairs, structural verification, and painting tasks
- Provide accurate repair cost estimates
- Train and mentor junior technicians
- Utilize specialized tools and equipment for maintenance tasks
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of vehicle maintenance principles, methods, and techniques
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 6 years of experience as a body shop technician, with a focus on heavy-duty vehicles (Vocational education may substitute for up to 1 year of experience)
- At least 1 year of maintenance experience on transit vehicles
- Strong knowledge of heavy-duty vehicle body repair, equipment repair cost estimation, and specialized tools
- Ability to train others in body shop and paint technician tasks
Licenses & Certifications:
- CDL: Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class "B" with passenger endorsement and air brake restriction lifted. We provide paid CDL training
- DOT Medical Card: Required. (We will assist in obtaining this upon a contingent job offer)
- ASE Certifications: Preferred in 4 areas (B2, B3, B4, B5). We offer paid training for certifications
- PA State Inspection License: Minimum Class 7 required. We provide paid training
Benefits:
- Pay Rate: $28.20/hour during training and probation, increasing to $32.27/hour after 12 months
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
