Job Title: Building Automation Engineer

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Building Automation Engineer to lead and support energy-saving projects. In this role, you will design, implement, and optimize building automation systems (BAS) to improve energy efficiency, reduce operating costs, and enhance sustainability initiatives. You will work closely with property management teams, contractors, and energy consultants to drive measurable improvements in building performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, program, and configure Building Automation Systems (BAS) to optimize HVAC, lighting, and other mechanical systems for energy efficiency.
- Analyze building energy usage data to identify opportunities for energy conservation and recommend system upgrades or adjustments.
- Collaborate with energy management teams to develop and implement strategies for reducing energy consumption and maximizing LEED certifications or ENERGY STAR ratings.
- Lead the installation, testing, and commissioning of automation systems, ensuring compliance with NYC local energy codes and regulations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with BAS, ensuring systems are operating at peak efficiency and reliability.
- Monitor performance metrics and create detailed reports on energy savings and system performance for stakeholders.
- Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) teams on building upgrades, retrofits, and renovations to ensure seamless integration of automation systems.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry standards and emerging technologies in building automation and energy management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in building automation systems, with a focus on energy efficiency projects.
- Proficiency in BAS platforms such as Siemens, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric, or Honeywell.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, energy management, and building operations.
- Experience with energy modeling software and energy performance metrics.
- Knowledge of NYC energy codes and sustainability programs (e.g., Local Law 97, LEED, ENERGY STAR).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams. • Strong communication and reporting skills, with experience in presenting technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in Energy Management (CEM), LEED Accredited Professional, or similar.
- Familiarity with advanced energy-saving technologies such as smart metering, demand response, and renewable energy integration.
- Experience with data analytics and visualization tools for tracking energy performance.
Salary : $100,000 - $140,000
