ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT
A community-driven and achievement-oriented high school, Arvada West offers students comprehensive college prep, career exploration, and workforce development. Our population of nearly 1800 students ranges from highly-academic A.P. students to the Challenge Program, which is embraced by both students and staff. The AWest staff works to support students as a community of learners who think critically about the world around them and develop the college and career ready skills necessary to find success in a collaborative, technology-driven world. PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT
The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $54.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
SUMMARY: Coordinate programs and/or create a partnerships with families, schools and communities to improve student, classroom, school district and state outcomes with a shared responsibility of student success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Coordinate student placements in appropriate programs and collaborate with students, parents, advisors, local businesses and/or volunteer placements.
Work with school counselors and advisors as appropriate to document student engagement in programs and to ensure compliance with program requirements.
Foster positive relationships between the Jeffco community, local employers and organizations in the community at large.
Promote student success through engagement for parent/family involvement.
Attend appropriate staff meetings.
Facilitate communication between students, parents/guardians, schools and agencies regarding school regulations, expectations, service opportunities, and cultural differences.
Schedule, attend and provide school and community resource events, fundraising, community connections and end of year celebrations.
Coordinate with advisors to monitor student progress with regular check-ins.
Promote and coordinate parent and community volunteer opportunities with Administration, Parent Teacher Student Organization, other parent organizations, and the community.
Act as a liaison to support the development of mutually beneficial volunteer opportunities throughout the community. Including volunteer workshops, establishing guidelines, documentation, protocols, etc.
Assist with submitting grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations. Communicating the mission and goals of the school to potential funders.
Implementation of in house fundraising; involving but not limited to the planning, organizing, promoting, collections and execution.
Plan, develop, coordinate and implement PR strategies including; writing and distributing press releases, maintaining the schools online presence, and preparing multimedia promotional materials (e.g. publicity brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films etc.).
Create and implement consistent branding to facilitate a sustainable identity for the school through marketing and community events.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING: High school diploma/GED required, plus post-secondary courses in business or vocational school, equivalent to up to two years of college. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 2-3 years of experience in school promotion and fundraising or youth-based apprenticeships/service learning programs.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EQUIPMENT: This position requires knowledge in community-based learning, must have excellent communication skills, interpersonal and multi-tasking skills.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS: Requires CPR and First Aid training within 2 months of hire. Must maintain Colorado Driver?s License and meet district/state requirements including; passing a written test annually, a medical disclosure form, and a DMV report.
SUPERVISION-TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITY: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. This position serves as a resource to parents, students, and staff in the areas of utilizing community resources. Conduct seminars on the acquisition of resources and provide support for the successful development of students
CONTACTS: This position requires daily contact with persons in the same building to provide, students, staff and families a service that will ensure a well-balanced approach. Weekly contact with the general public, businesses, health providers, and volunteer organizations to furnish/obtain information and support to the school's goals. Monthly contact with persons in other departments/buildings to furnish/obtain information.

Decision making is guided by District policies and school procedures as they relate to a democratic facility. Collaboration in decision making includes colleagues, students, parents, staff and administration. Errors in decision making could cause the inability to ask for help, the inability to work collaboratively and the inability to reflect on the work and accept feedback from others. This could impact students as advisees or students. The staff is a collaborative group and the school is a place where students become self-directed learners. Supervisor is involved in major decisions only.
