PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT
The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $54.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
SUMMARY Responsible for leading the district?s efforts to ensure student safety through the strategic management of judicial services and threat assessment processes. This role focuses on developing and overseeing protocols that prioritize student well-being, prevent potential safety risks, and promote a secure learning environment. Collaborate closely with school administrators, students and their families, mental health professionals, law enforcement, and district leaders to support a cohesive approach to threat assessment, safety planning, disciplinary protocols, and restorative practices. Oversee the team responsible for the oversight of student-based safety planning, threat assessment management, and the case management of students with Judicial Services involvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborate with the Chief of Family and Community Partnerships in developing and prioritizing strategic goals and objectives that align with Jeffco?s strategic plan and national best practices for threat assessment and student safety planning.
Promote and standardize best practice threat assessment protocols across all schools, ensuring equity, consistency, and alignment with district policies.
Coordinate with schools, families, and local agency partners to develop individualized student safety and support plans.
Actively participate as a member of the DSS Reunification Team, coordinating reunification efforts in emergency situations and providing on-site leadership during crises.
Serve as the lead for the district?s behavioral threat management process, collaborating with school administrators and central leaders to assess and intervene with students identified as at-risk for violence toward self or others. Ensure a comprehensive, research-based approach to threat assessment and intervention.
Represent the district and Judicial Services on various committees, work groups, and community forums, serving as the primary district contact for students involved in the court system.
Develop and deliver ongoing professional development on best practices in behavioral threat assessment and safety protocols for district administrators and staff.
As appropriate, partner with agencies such as law enforcement, district attorneys, social services, and mental health organizations to gather and analyze comprehensive data, helping create a full assessment of student strengths, background, and needs.
Act as the district?s representative on inter-agency teams, maintaining strong professional relationships and staying informed on the policies and practices of partner agencies.
Maintain accurate electronic records and data for all students involved in threat assessment processes, including levels of threat, demographic data, and outcomes. Generate reports to track trends and evaluate program and intervention effectiveness.
Coordinate with school administrators to create safety plans for students with criminal offenses, violent behavior, or those involved in the threat assessment process.
Facilitate training sessions for community partners and agency staff on threat prevention, intervention resources, and district safety protocols.
Report to and update the Chief of Family and Community Partnerships on case management activity, workload, and procedural issues, seeking guidance on complex cases and district-level threat assessments as necessary.
Work collaboratively with school and district staff to continuously improve and uphold best practice protocols for threat management and student safety.
Oversee all record-keeping and data management related to threat assessments, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
Travel within Jefferson County and neighboring areas as needed to support schools, court appearances, and agency meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the safety and well-being of the district?s students and staff.
EXPERIENCE Five years of experience working with at-risk juveniles, law enforcement agencies, community groups, and/or organizations involved in juvenile justice, with at least three years in a manager or higher role. Experience directly supervising and managing employees and experience in threat assessment techniques. Juvenile Justice/Court experience preferred.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING Master's degree required. Bachelor's degree may be considered with two additional years of manager level experience. Preferred field of study in education, social work, psychology, criminal justice, student affairs, conflict resolution or related field.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Colorado Driver?s license. Certified Threat Manager (CTM) certificate preferred. Must have NIMS course completion of ICS-100, IS-362, IS-700.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Requires knowledge on best practices related to threat management processes in schools. Particular emphasis of agency roles and responsibilities in the District; and knowledge of District policy and procedures to understand policies and practices of Jefferson County agencies involved with at-risk students. Must be able to learn and operate software programs specific to the District and the Juvenile Justice System. Ability to mediate conflict along with understanding and abiding by the Jefferson County Conduct Code Book and related Board policies. Must understand the applicable policies, criminal and education statutes related to school age youths. Must be able to work efficiently in team environment and independently. Proficient at public speaking and large group trainings. Preference for bilingual/multilingual abilities in Spanish.
SPAN OF CONTROL Directly supervises four employees in the Department of Judicial Services to also include student interns. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization?s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
