ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT
Extended School Year (ESY) is a summer school program, approximately five weeks in duration, for Special Education students who have been determined eligible for additional supports by their IEP team. ESY staff includes, but is not limited to principals, teachers, paraeducators, and paraprofessionals.
ABOUT THE JOB
All Extended School Year (ESY) SSN Teacher positions will be filled through this job posting for the following locations:
- North:- Vanderhoof Elementary
- Central - Sobesky Academy (Session 1 Elementary and Session 2 Secondary)
- South - Governor's Ranch
- Mountains - West Jefferson Elementary
Hiring preference will be given to current Jeffco Public Schools Employees.
ESY will be Monday - Friday mornings and held in two sessions. Session 1 will be June 2 - June 13 and Session 2 will be June 16 - June 27 (No classes on June 19 for Juneteenth).
You may choose to work either session or both and can state your preference at the time of interview.
Licensed staff will have two mandatory preperation days on May 29 and May 30.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT
The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $54.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Design and implement specialized instruction
- Work collaboratively to plan and modify curriculum, team teach with general educators and to communicate the abilities and needs of special education students.
- Conduct IEP and referral meetings, conferences, develop a multidisciplinary approach to the educational enhancement of the student.
- Maintain on-going communication with regular educators, school staff, students and parents.
- Create a safe supportive and understanding environment for disabled students.
- Complies with Exceptional Student Services and district policies and procedures (e.g., Medicaid billing, accident reporting).
- Other Duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Holds valid Colorado teaching license with endorsement in one of the following: Teacher II-Severe Needs-Cognitive, Profound Needs, Special Ed. Generalist, Special Ed. Specialist, Educable Mentally Handicapped, Trainable Child or Multi-handicapped. Experience/supervised internship in working with severely/profound cognitively disabled children. Understanding/interpreting educational assessments and prescriptive teaching. Developing appropriate materials, facilitating inclusion, creating and designing and implementing behavioral plans.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Background in working with students with toilet training, and in working with students in wheelchairs, students with seizure disorders, and other physical disabilities. Training emphasis in LD/PC preferred.
