This is a pool to collect applicants when there is a need for a substitute AP in a school. The position will be hired on an as need basis. Previous Jeffco AP or principal experience is required.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT
The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $54.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
SUMMARY: Serve as an assistant principal at a school either during the short term absence of an assistant principal, or when a school needs short term additional support; ensure continued operations and academic achievement. Provide leadership, support staff, and maintain open communication with the school community. Responsible for making informed decisions, handling crises, overseeing curriculum implementation and/or testing; ensuring compliance with school policies. Maintain a positive school environment and foster a safe and inclusive environment for all staff and students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as assistant principal and support the school principal in ensuring continuity in school operations.
Make informed and timely decisions on behalf of the principal on day-to-day matters that impact the school environment and the educational experience of students.
Keep principal informed in a timely manner of any issues, concerns, or decisions made.
Address student behavioral issues and work with teachers, staff, and parents to resolve disciplinary matters.
Provide leadership and guidance to teachers and staff, maintaining a positive learning environment.
Represent the principal and district leadership in meetings with staff, parents, and external stakeholders as needed.
Respond to emergencies and unexpected situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff.
Support the implementation of the school's curriculum, ensuring that educational goals are met. Ensure that classroom activities are effectively supervised and that educational standards are maintained.
Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that supports the academic and social development of all students.
Ensure that the school remains in compliance with district policies, state laws, and federal regulations during the principal's absence.
Leverage school management software, data dashboards, communication tools, and other relevant technologies to support administrative functions and enhance educational practices.
Work closely with other administrators, counselors, and support staff to coordinate school activities and programs.
EXPERIENCE Prior experience as either a Principal or Assistant Principal at Jeffco Public Schools.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, OR REGISTRATIONS Valid Professional Principal License or Administrator License from Colorado Department of Education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of state and federal requirements for public education. Knowledge of Jeffco Public Schools educational goals and standards, school operations, and organizational structure. Knowledge of how to leverage school management software, data dashboards, communication tools, and other relevant technologies to support administrative functions and enhance educational practices. Strong leadership skills with the ability to collect relevant perspectives, make informed decisions, and communicate for consensus and support. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with students, staff, parents, and the community. Strong conflict resolution and mediation skills to address disciplinary issues and interpersonal conflicts. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines. Ability to understand and respond to the emotional and social needs of students and staff. Ability to anticipate potential challenges and proactively develop strategies to mitigate them.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Regularly required to use hands to handle and feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. Must be able to access shelving and storage areas. Must be able to direct or lead students to safety in the event of an emergency or drill.

Ability to make sound decisions on a day-to-day basis on appropriate communication with staff on safety concerns, student performance metrics, and tasks to meet strategic goals. Ability to evaluate and provide constructive feedback on both staff performance and student behavior. Demonstrate mature judgement in exercising appropriate supervision and expectations of staff and students. Ability to speak effectively before groups.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Work will be primarily performed at either elementary and secondary school sites. Typical elementary school building may also contain libraries, computer labs, and kitchens. Typical secondary school campus may also contain libraries, science labs, computer labs, kitchens, auditoriums, gymnasiums & athletic fields, and possibly specialized shops. May be exposed to outside elements during travel between campuses and offices.
