What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lactation Consultant RN position at Jefferson - Center City, Philadelphia, PA?
Full time 40 hours/week day/night rotation - Four 10 hour shifts 9am-7:30pm and 9pm-7:30am.
With a commitment to patient- and family-centered care, the Lactation Consultant RN uses the nursing process in ways that values the uniqueness of each individual and addresses the physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs of the diversity of patients served by Jefferson Health. the Lactation Consultant RN is responsible for providing safe, family-centered patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating lactation plans for the breastfeeding/chest-feeding dyad, as well as for the pumping parent, and is fully collaborative with the patient, patient’s family, significant others, and members of the health care team. The Lactation Consultant demonstrates specialized knowledge and clinical expertise in breastfeeding/chest-feeding and human lactation.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required; BSN or completion of BSN within 3 years of hire strongly preferred
AND
Experience:
Two years’ experience in maternal/child nursing. Demonstrated experience in planning, implementing and evaluating teaching/learning experiences.
Minimum Certifications, Registration or License Requirements:
Current RN licensure in state of employment; AHA BLS CPR. International Board Certified Lactation Consultant required.
Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jefferson’s clinical entities or at the University. If you are not currently vaccinated you will be required to receive the vaccination prior to hire date if you are offered employment, unless you request and receive an approved medical or religious exemption from Jefferson.
Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.
