2025 SPRING INTERNSHIP (General Services Division)

The purpose of the internship is to provide an opportunity for students to obtain work experience.  In addition, students will acquire skills and knowledge that will be useful in their career search upon graduation. Students will interact with technical experts in their areas of study. JCDH will in turn receive valuable assistance in the development, implementation, and ongoing operation of their programs.  *This is a paid internship opportunity.  Students can work up to one year from their hire date if they are enrolled in school.

Summary of Duties

Print Shop operations involve operating high-speed production equipment to provide reprographic and digital printing support services to satisfy the needs of internal customers. This involves production of all public health forms, flyers, brochures, and documents used by Jefferson County Health Department staff. Records Management includes the custody, retention, archival and destruction of the Jefferson County Department of Health official records and documents. Employees working receptionist desk in the lobby of the Guy M. Tate Building, perform duties, such as answering questions and phone calls from the public regarding public health services and notifying departmental employees when visitors arrive.

• Ability to analyze facts, exercise sound judgment, and to arrive at sound conclusions.
• Ability to use modern office methods, techniques and equipment; and computer skills.

Eligibility: Summer Intern (Classification No. 92732 Unclassified):

• Student must be currently enrolled in an accredited university/college and have completed their freshman year by January 2025.
• Student must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
• Student must have a valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record. 
• Student must pass a pre-employment background check.
• Student must be eligible to work in the United States and provide required documentation. *JCDH does not offer work sponsorship.

Pay Rate:

•    $15.00/ hour

Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.  Applicants selected for a JCDH internship must submit to pre-employment background and drug screening and complete all required administrative paperwork prior to beginning the internship.  The selected applicants must also attend an orientation at the JCDH at the beginning of the internship on a date to be determined.
