Instructional Coach (SY 2025-26)

POSITION TITLE:        Instructional Coach

FLSA:                           Exempt Professional

REPORTS TO:             Principal 

QUALIFICATIONS:       

• Current Mississippi teaching certificate,                           
• Positive interpersonal relationship skills,
• Demonstrated team-building skills,
• Masters in Curriculum & Instruction (preferred but not required),
• Minimum of five years of effective teaching experience. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Provide professional development training and continued support.

2. Support curriculum development implementation that may include ensuring internal and external alignment, developing curriculum maps & identifying support resources.

3. Work with building administrators and teachers in using data to improve individual and school performance.

4. Work with teachers on developing and implementing effective assessments within the classrooms.

5. Model and support teachers in the implementation of all instructional strategies.

6. Assist teachers in integrating technology into classroom instruction.

7. Promote the sharing of effective teaching practices among staff throughout the district.

8. Serve as a resource to principals in the areas of curriculum, assessment, and instruction.

9. Remain current with best practices and current research on teaching and learning.

10. Utilizes the components of a profile of characteristics of potential dropouts developed by the Mississippi
    Department of Education to identify high school students with a high probability of not graduating.
11. Collaborates with feeder middle school(s) to utilize the components of a profile of characteristics of
    potential dropouts developed by the Mississippi Department of Education to identify middle school
    students with a high probability of not graduating.
12. Employs the Mississippi Department of Education School Improvement Data Utilization Guide to identify
    students scoring within a band of 5% above and 5% below proficiency levels (“bubble student”).
13. Conducts an analysis that focuses on data for individual students and subgroups.
