Location: Port Townsend
The Jefferson County Department of Community Development seeks a part-time Building/Fire Inspector. This position performs inspections and evaluations of new and existing residential, commercial, and industrial buildings for compliance with Building Code, Fire Code, life-safety measures, and other applicable laws, regulations, and standards. This is a Clerk Hire position with a maximum of 69 hours per month.
Minimum Qualifications: Individual needs to be able to perform each job duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed on the job description are representative of the knowledge, skills & abilities required.
Competency: To perform this role successfully, candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with proficiency in computer programs such as MS Word and Excel.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Washington State Driver’s License is required. Must obtain an ICC Certificate within six months of employment OR hold at least one of the following: ICC Fire Inspector I, ICC Residential Inspector, ICC Commercial Inspector, or a related equivalent certification.
Hours & Compensation: This is a part-time Clerk Hire position. Work up to 69 hours per month. $30.87-$36.85 per hour, DOE. No benefits. One hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked.
