Assists in DEVELOPing, IMPLEMENTing AND MONITORing SAFETY TRAINING AND THE FACILITY ERGONOMICS PROGRAMS. the assistant MANAGER is eXPECTED TO model behavior required for JIC associates including professionalism, teamwork, job performance and support OF MANAGEMENT. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assists under the EHS Manager direction the following activities:
SAFETY
Develops PDCA fundamentals into daily management practices in Safety and Administration Department to achieve corporate goals

- Create and manage safety programs in compliance with regulatory requirements, to ensure safe working conditions for all Associates and Contractors.
- Monitors work practices throughout the company to ensure Associates are following safety practices and policies.
- Create and manage safety training and ergonomics programs.
- Manage Workers’ Compensation claims and compliance.
- Manage OSHA recordkeeping, inspections and compliance.
- Maintain first aid of supplies.
- Maintain internal safety permit programs (e.g. hot work etc.)
- Ensures safety-training records are maintained.
- Awareness of new and changing safety regulations and their application to company operations.
- Create and manage Safety Committee activities.
- Attend safety council meetings as needed or directed.
- Coordinates Root Cause Analysis for post incident investigations.
- Apply PDCA cycle problem resolution technique to assure sustainable safety practices.
- Fully and accurately cooperates with 3rd party (e.g. regulatory) safety investigations
- Performs safety risk assessments as needed.
- Analyzes safety incident records to prevent re-occurring safety incidents and minimize Workers Compensation costs.
- Assists with the development of Risk Management & EHS Department budget and costs.
- Assists in workers compensation claims and resolution (e.g. attending hearings, providing supporting documentation, cooperating with third-party administrator investigations).
- Tracks and coordinates the investigation and counter-measures for safety incidents.
- Ensures new hire safety training is performed and effective
- Develop and manage periodic safety and environmental content and perform and/or coordinate with training functions, such as Lockout, Hazcom, Confined Space, Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV), Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Awareness, etc.
- Manage Safety Data Sheets (AKA SDS).
- Assists with administering, in an effective and professional manner the First Responder and First Aid Programs, participates and performs training.
- Assists with implementing EHS objectives.
- Accepts job assignments and changes in a positive manner; takes responsibility for own and team’s performance and job assignments.
- Co-EMR for ISO14001 program
- Seeks out new assignments, proposes new work methods and finds better ways to complete tasks.
- Maintains confidentiality, only shares information on a “Need to know” basis
- Directs EHS Coordinator activities as delegated by EHS Manager.
- Participate in the business plan process.
- Other duties may be assigned.
