Job Overview
The Jefferson Parish School District seeks a highly skilled and dedicated Early Intervention Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Special Education Department, you will play a vital role in providing educational services to preschoolers with exceptionalities.
About the Role
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students ages 3-5 years old.
- Collaborate with community early education providers to identify and support students with special needs.
- Provide direct and consultative educational services to students in a center-based or home setting.
- Train parents on strategies to support their child's learning and development.
- Coordinate related services, such as occupational therapy and speech therapy, to ensure comprehensive support for students.
- Design and deliver in-service training to early education providers on best practices for working with students with special needs.
- Assist in the transition process for students entering or exiting our program.
- Work closely with special education preschool staff to address identified program needs.
- Lift, move, or position students as needed on their IEP.
Requirements
- Certified in Preschool Special Education with three (3) years of experience as a preschool special education teacher.
- Ability to organize and motivate people, establish effective working relationships, and demonstrate integrity, initiative, and good moral character.
- Fluency in Spanish is desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Special Education.
- Experience working in the Jefferson Parish School System.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively with other professionals, children, and their parents.
