EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO SUPPLEMENT THE EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL TWO (2) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCIES AND THREE (3) CURRENT WEST JEFFERSON VACANCIES ALL IN THE WATER DEPARTMENT.
This employment list will also be used for future EAST AND WEST Jefferson vacancies in this Department as they occur.This position is responsible for supervising a crew consisting of an equipment operator, skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled workers in the extension of repairs and maintenance of water lines, mains, the installation of new connections for water service, repair and installation of fire hydrants, installation, repair and removal of meters, and maintenance and repair of valves and valve boxes. Receives, investigates and resolves complaints of faulty operator and/or damages to the water distribution system. This position is also an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or his designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish. Position requires driving of a Parish vehicle necessitating a class D license, thus possession of a valid Class D Driver's license and acceptable driving record will be given preference.Meets one of the following three options:
I. Current employment with Jefferson Parish and permanent civil service status in a classification involving responsibility for assisting with the maintenance and repair of J.P. Public Works sub-surface utility lines.

The written test is designed to measure ability to read and understand instructions, knowledge of acceptable supervisory procedures and practices, and skill in preparing field reports. Qualified applicants will be notified of the time, place and date of the written examination.
