Job Summary
The Construction Superintendent plays a critical role in overseeing and managing construction projects from inception to completion. This position is responsible for ensuring that all work is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of construction processes, and the ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders.
Duties
- Oversee daily operations on the construction site, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards.
- Coordinate project scheduling and manage timelines to ensure project milestones are met.
- Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and laborers to facilitate smooth workflow and communication.
- Utilize construction management software such as Procore for project tracking and reporting.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality of work, and adherence to specifications.
- Implement OSHA regulations and ensure all team members are trained in safety protocols.
- Manage resources effectively, including materials and labor, to optimize productivity.
- Troubleshoot any issues that arise on-site and develop solutions promptly.
- Update project documents as a result of design changes, RFI, bulletins, etc
- Evaluate and comprehend various jobsite schedules in comparison to the current field activities and be able to calculate the status of each trade.
- Maintain daily timekeeping and construction activity records such as pre-shift meetings, toolbox talks, extra work tickets, delivery receipts/schedules, two-week look ahead, and incident reports.
- Assist project superintendent with job site field meetings.
- Monitor subcontractor delivery of materials and job site storage. Make sure trades are conforming to all safety standards and are following the project’s specifications, drawings, and approved submittals.
- Assist in project closeout and monitoring of punch lists, non-conformance reports, and warranties/guarantees.
Skills
- Proficiency in project scheduling techniques and tools.
- Familiarity with construction processes and requirements.
- Strong management skills with the ability to lead diverse teams effectively.
- Knowledge of Ohmmeter usage for electrical testing on-site.
- In-depth understanding of OSHA regulations related to construction safety.
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
- Ability to adapt to changing project demands while maintaining focus on quality and deadlines.
- Basic ability to read and interpret blueprints and project specifications.
- Must have a valid supervisor SST card.
- Previous experience on large-scale projects valued at 10 million . Preferred not required.
- 3 years of field experience. (Experience should include some supervisory responsibility as a foreman, tradesman, and/or assistant superintendent).
- Knowledge of basic computer applications and software such as MS Office and constructed related programs.
