- Process medical billing claims, including submission to insurance companies and follow-up on unpaid claims.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and reimbursement policies.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in patient records or billing information.
- Conduct medical collections as necessary, ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices.
- Utilize various systems for managing patient information and billing processes effectively.
- Stay informed about changes in healthcare laws and regulations that may affect billing practices.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a medical office setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in medical records management and understanding of DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) methodologies.
- Familiarity with medical coding systems including ICD-10, ICD-9, and related coding standards.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology relevant to diagnoses and procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, patients, and insurance representatives.
- Certification in Medical Billing or Coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) is a plus but not required.
