OVERVIEW
Jenner & Block is looking for a dynamic and creative team player who loves solving problems, getting things done, and helping advance our industry-leading Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) work.
This individual will report to our Manager of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) and will have the opportunity to grow and develop under their mentorship. The DEI Coordinator will be an essential part of our DEI team and will work closely with lawyers, professional staff, and the larger team.
The role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with strong client service skills and excellent written and verbal communications skills. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and committed to our mission of building better, stronger, and more just workplaces and society.
This role is an non-exempt position and can be based in any of the firm’s U.S. offices (Chicago, DC, LA, NY, SF) although Chicago is the preferred office location. The work schedule for this position is 8:45 am to 5:15 pm, with additional hours as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Coordinate, support, and execute internal and external activities including events, workshops, trainings, meetings and programs (both in-person and virtual)
- Provide support to the DEI Committee and the firm’s affinity groups
- Coordinate, support and execute sponsorships with law school affinity groups, affinity bar associations, and professional and community organizations
- Collaborate with teams across the firm, including the Professional Development Team, the Recruiting Team and the Marketing Team to ensure DEI is embedded wholistically throughout the operation of the firm
- Compile and draft content for newsletters, ads, and event recaps
- Maintain regular updates for intranet and the firm website’s DEI pages
- Update and maintain departmental and intranet calendars
- Update calendar with all DEI events and activities
- Work with vendors to select swag and maintain inventory database for giveaways
- Coordinate, support and execute other DEI tasks, which vary widely in level of complexity
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent work experience
- Law firm or professional services organization experience strongly preferred; experience in a diversity, equity & inclusion role is a plus
- Possess project management skills, sound business judgment and be able to multi-task
