Intermodal Dispatcher

Overview
We are a growing logistics company, specializing in interstate freight and expanding into the intermodal container transport sector. We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Intermodal Dispatcher to spearhead our intermodal operations. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of a new division, playing a critical role in building and establishing processes, partnerships, and channels for success.

Responsibilities

• Develop Intermodal Operations: Establish and implement a framework for the company's intermodal transport operations.
• Build Strategic Relationships: Identify and build relationships with key stakeholders, including railroads, ports, terminals, brokers, and drayage providers.
• Coordinate Initial Operations: Design efficient workflows for container pickups, deliveries, and returns, ensuring seamless coordination across all parties.
• Negotiate Contracts: Work with vendors and service providers to secure favorable terms for intermodal operations.
• Driver and Fleet Coordination: Assign loads to drivers, monitor progress, and resolve issues as needed.
• Track and Minimize Costs: Manage container availability, monitor return deadlines, and reduce costs like demurrage and detention.
• Compliance and Reporting: Ensure adherence to industry regulations and maintain accurate records for audits and performance tracking.
• Provide Training: Guide internal team members on intermodal-specific practices and processes as the operation grows.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in intermodal or container dispatching.
• Proven ability to take initiative, build operations from scratch, and establish new workflows.
• Strong analytical skills to assess transportation data and make informed decisions.
• Excellent organizational abilities with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent multitasking abilities: Able to manage multiple drivers and loads at once.
• Exceptional negotiation skills: Experience dealing with brokers is crucial.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Strong computer skills: Familiarity with dispatching software and basic Excel knowledge.
• Russian-speaking preferred to communicate effectively with our diverse driver base.
