Job Overview
This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and orderly environment in our Sanctuary Building, including the Sanctuary, foyer, offices, restrooms, classrooms and Fellowship Hall. Our custodians play an essential role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our church. Their work ensures that occupants can enjoy a safe, healthy and pleasant environment. The primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Cleaning and Maintenance
· Cleaning will be done at least once per week; additional cleaning will be done following events as needed
· Dusting and wiping down all surfaces, cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, including sinks, toilets and mirrors, emptying trash cans and disposing of waste properly
· Cleaning windows, glass doors -inside and outside, and mirrors
Additional Duties
· Assisting with setting up and taking down furniture and equipment for events or meetings
· Responding to emergency cleaning requests promptly and efficiently
· Participating in staff meetings to stay informed
· Maintaining accurate records of supply inventories and requesting replenishment of supplies
Qualifications and Skills
Custodians should possess a combination of physical abilities, technical skills, and personal qualities to perform their duties effectively. The key qualifications and skills include:
· Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, such as cleaning supplies and equipment
· Stamina to perform repetitive tasks and stand or walk for extended periods
· Manual dexterity for handling cleaning tools and equipment
· Comfort working in various environmental conditions, including exposure to cleaning chemicals
· Knowledge of cleaning techniques, procedures, and best practices
· Familiarity with cleaning equipment provided by Jerusalem Chapel
· Understanding of safety guidelines and proper use of cleaning chemicals
· Basic maintenance skills

Work Environment
Custodians typically work in indoor environments, although some outdoor tasks may be required such as sweeping (blowing) walkways. The work schedule may vary depending on scheduled events at the church, which may include working evenings, nights, or weekends to ensure the church is clean prior to the next scheduled event

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.50 - $17.00 per hour
