What are the responsibilities and job description for the Beverage Manager position at Jessica Lasky Catering & The Little Kitchen?
Beverage Director
Manage all beverage needs for all styles of events - curate selection of beverages, develop relationships with distributors, create packages and sales materials for producers, increase wine sales across all styles of events, go onsite and develop systems to elevate our bar programs.
Buying & Curating Wine, Beer & Spirits:
- Curate a collection of wines, beer, and spirits that fit with the overall aesthetic of the business and suits clients needs
- Taste wines, beer and spirits with various reps and distributors to keep our house selections fresh and relevant
- Manage all ordering and relationships with wine, beer, and spirits vendors
- Work with Bar Manager on weekly culinary needs and oversee weekly ordering for perishable ingredients
- Cost Analysis - Evaluate pricing and profit for wine and spirits
Sales Materials & Client Support:
- Develop beverage sales materials to aid event producers in selling wine and spirits packages
- Curate custom wine lists to reflect the clients perspective and style - with a lean towards fresh, seasonal, sustainable and delicious, with a focus on small producers
- Work with clients to select wines, beer, and spirits for their events, consult on preferences, put together custom wine lists, and host tastings to aid clients in finding the perfect beverage program for their special moments
- Work with clients and planners to provide guidance on wine, beer, and spirits amounting and selections, along with descriptions as needed
- Source special client requests
Production:
- Forecast event needs and ensure all event beverage needs are properly supplied
- Work closely with event producers and Bar Manager to understand client beverage needs and amounting
- Oversee all packout and beverage staging for events
- Obtain alcohol permits as needed for events
Onsite
- Lead service and manage bars on-site at ~8 events per month
- Create JLC standard for bar service, creating materials for on-site staff to ensure they uphold our standards and practices
