We have an opening for a General Manager position at Borough and Parlour Bar Minneapolis, in the North Loop.

Job Title: General Manager

Job Summary: The general manager is a key player in the Jester Concepts organization as they oversee the entire business operations and ensure that everything runs smoothly. They are responsible for managing and developing teams, creating strategies, building relationships with guests and vendors, and ensuring objectives are met.

Reports to: Hospitality Director

Key Responsibilities

  • To oversee the restaurant's general operations while on the floor including but not limited to, the restaurant's operations, as well as any special events within our revenue centers.
  • To ensure the general cleanliness of the restaurant on a daily basis and the proper upkeep and maintenance to make sure the restaurant operates at an optimal level.
  • To be responsible for and oversee the management staff at the venue.
  • To conduct weekly meetings for management staff and address any concerns within the restaurant. To ensure the follow-through of all managers on a weekly basis for various tasks assigned to them.
  • To be responsible for the management of all staff whether salaried or hourly. This includes any and all staff for the front and back of the house.
  • To assist in onboarding and training of staff before, during, and after the training period.
  • To help coordinate all training of FOH staff and hold every employee of the restaurant accountable for their conduct in line with the policies of Jester Concepts. This may include food menu, bar menu, wine list, steps of service, reservation system, general information of the restaurant and legal date of alcohol consumption, and more.
  • Address and report all misconduct of any employees and complete any necessary documentation relating to incidents with staff or guests. Build and support a culture within the staff that is respectful, professional and positive. Documenting all misconduct of all employees and any incident reports whether with it be with staff or customers.
  • To be responsible for accuracy of all financial reports regarding the restaurant and its revenue centers. You will oversee all financial departments including ensuring the end of night closes and cash drop are accurate. You will be overseeing the labor department to make sure we are within the parameters set. You will oversee all COG for the entire property including food, liquor, wine and any intangible expenses to ensure we are on budget.
  • To enhance the guests experience daily by being present on the floor and be aware of how the restaurant is operating at all times and to handle any and or all situations that may arise with customer service.
  • To garner customer feedback from tables, management and staff as well as to establish relations with the customer as much as possible through food running, pre bussing, or table touches. Whichever method you prefer.
  • To constantly check on drink and food ticket times to ensure timeliness of our product to the table as well as ensuring that our service staff are executing the proper steps of service.
  • Responsible for the oversight of the front of the house schedule including the manager, server, bar, host, wait assistant and food runner schedule. You will be responsible for the oversight and review of a schedule with no scheduled overtime and to stay within the hourly parameters set forth by ownership. To be responsible for submitting the schedule to ownership quarterly and on an as needed basis.
  • Hire, train, and coach management and hourly staff.
  • Monitor and control labor costs.
  • Track tip and hours figures for staff and process accurate, documented payroll bi-weekly.
  • Program and maintain all systems and programs. (Toast POS system, Open Table reservation system, voicemail, Microsoft Teams organization, Margin Edge inventory & invoicing system, Sling scheduling, meeting agendas, nightly financial spreadsheets, and more)
  • Process invoices, review P&L, review inventory before finalization.
  • Create and implement internal standard operating procedures and policies.
  • Create and follow budgets.
  • Strategic short- and long-term planning.
  • To execute Jester Concepts training program standards
  • Assist in menu planning and menu change processes.
  • Work with Marketing team to plan and execute events
  • Monitor the ordering and inventory done by front and back of house managers.
  • Maintain guest satisfaction
  • Responsible for the store’s social media posts, review responses and other Social Media initiatives
  • Respond to all reviews and guest feedback.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy facility environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures; complying with health and legal regulations; maintaining security systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience:

  • 5 years previous experience in a full service restaurant, in a senior management role
  • Longevity in previous roles
  • Passion for food, beverage, and genuine hospitality
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively train and motivate staff members.
  • Highly organized and strong time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends.
  • Knowledge of Toast POS, Open Table, and Office 365 preferred but not required
