Job Overview
We are seeking a Sales Associate and Deli Food Service Specialist to join our team at Jet Food Stores. This role encompasses various tasks, including customer service, operating cash registers, managing cash and credit cards, and adhering to regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet customers with a smile, be friendly, and offer prompt service.
- Practice suggestive selling and adhere to all city, county, state, and federal alcohol and tobacco regulations.
- Efficently operate cash registers, manage cash and credit cards, and operate lottery/lotto terminals and gasoline intercoms.
- Maintain a clean and organized store environment, including sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning shelving and racks, and sanitizing restrooms and fast food equipment.
- Stock items on shelves and racks, change syrup boxes, and keep fast food areas stocked with coffee and hot chocolate.
- Rotate stock, pull out-of-date items, and store them in the backroom for supplier credit.
- Stay familiar with products and prices in the store and maintain security protocols, including completing shift check-in procedures, being alert to shoplifting prevention, and practicing good cash control.
- Protect company assets and follow robbery deterrence guidelines.
- Follow the work schedule, report discrepancies, and prepare shift reports as per company guidelines.
Deli Team Member Responsibilities
In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, Deli Team Members are also responsible for preparing, slicing, cooking, weighing, pricing, serving food, and merchandising deli products. They must inform customers about deli products and services, increase sales through great food presentation, and provide excellent customer service skills and suggestive selling deli merchandise.
Requirements:
- Read, understand, and write English at an eighth-grade level.
- Perform arithmetic calculations at an eighth-grade level to make change, complete shift reports, and account for products during vendor check-in.
- Have sufficient visual acuity to check identification, read labels, recipes, temperature readings, and avoid hazards in the deli area.
- Lift up to 50 pounds, stand or walk for 8-10 hours while cooking and serving customers, and react to fires by using fire extinguishers.
- Work in hot environments around equipment like ovens, fryers, and grills, and cold conditions in coolers and freezers.
