Role Overview
The successful candidate will leverage their extensive case management expertise and courtroom acumen to effectively handle a diverse portfolio of high-stakes cases from inception to trial. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in the field of toxic tort litigation.Key Responsibilities
- Manage and work up a sophisticated docket of toxic tort products liability actions, particularly mesothelioma cases
- Oversee cases from filing through trial, ensuring adherence to legal procedures and deadlines
- Conduct and defend depositions with precision and strategic insight
- Craft compelling legal documents, including motions, briefs, and pleadings
- Develop and implement tactical and strategic approaches to case management
- Collaborate with team members and clients to achieve optimal case outcomes
- Engage in substantial travel (at least weekly) to attend court proceedings, depositions, and client meetings
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree and active bar membership required
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in managing cases from filing to trial
- Proven second-chair trial experience
- Strong deposition, legal writing, and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated ability to think tactically and strategically in complex legal matters
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Asbestos litigation experience preferred, but not required for candidates with transferable skills and a willingness to learn quickly
