What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistive Technology Specialist position at JEVS Human Services?
The Assistive Technology Specialist serves in the role to provide assistive technology evaluation, consultation, comprehensive and individualized training for Individuals, Direct Support Staff, Family and others involved in the support of individuals with disabilities. The primary goal is to enhance the Individual’s ability to promote and increase their quality of life.
This position will be in the Burlington County, New Jersey area.
JOB DUTIES:
- Identifies hardware and software appropriate to individuals' assessed needs.
- Provides written assessment reports, participates as a part of ISP team and serves as the assistive technology resource expert at meetings.
- Assists in the ordering of equipment, delivery and set-up and provides hands on instructions on set up, maintenance, and ongoing consultation to individuals, family and staff, relative to the use of the equipment.
- Provides coordination of routine maintenance, troubleshooting and management of repair needs of assistive technology software and equipment.
- Develops and maintains resources, manages assistive technology inventory, including hardware and software provided to individuals.
- Educates and trains staff through interagency in-services, by introducing the assistive technology concept, providing education on evidence-based modalities, best practices, success stories, testimonials and available resources.
Skills and Requirements:
- An earned bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- A certificate in assistive technology from an approved institution.
- Maintain credential and CEUs
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
- Knowledge of and experience using assistive technology applications and equipment.
- Knowledge of current trends, literature, and best practices in the use of assistive technologies
- Leadership skills in facilitating training and in services.

The base pay for this position ranges between $32.00 to $36.00 and will vary based on factors such as skills and experience. Base pay is one part of the Total Compensation that JEVS Human Services provides to recognize employees for their work.
