Summer Camp Unit Head (Summer / Seasonal / Temporary)
About the Opportunity :
As a Unit Head, you will oversee a select group of counselors, assisting in their various duties while noting their strengths and weaknesses. It will be your job to help the counselors find ways to improve the camp life of their campers. It is a job of counselor to provide an experience that nurtures and cultivates the minds of campers; a unit head should provide the same environment to the counselors they supervise.! Note that this position requires a commitment for the entire season of June 2nd – July 25th (plus orientation).
What you’ll be doing :
- Assist in the development of counselor orientation and facilitate the training sessions
- Provide support and supervision to camp counselors
- Facilitate communication between administrative and counselor staff
- Assist with communication with parents
- Help counselors organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities each day; activities may include crafts, nature, songs, games, swimming, sporting events, etc.
- Fill in for counselors during absences

The work environment is fast-paced and requires high mobility, standing, walking (sometimes on uneven terrain), bending, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling (to be eye-level with a child). Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds. Must have the visual, auditory and verbal ability to observe campers and counselors and respond to appropriately and effectively in the event of an emergency.
Salary : $15 - $17
