What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kids Club Staff Lead position at Jewish Community Center of Cleveland?
Summary: Supports the Youth Coordinator in the daily functions of the Kids Club Afterschool Programming included. Assist in planning other children’s programs (Vacation Camps, Enrichment Classes, Kids Night Out, Snow Days etc.), and administrative duties.
Expectations of Employees:
- 1:00pm-6:00pm Monday-Friday(tba)
- 8 hours/day during Vacation Camps
Essential Functions:
- Aid in the creation, administration and supervision of Kids Club Afterschool Program
- Help develop Kids Club curriculum/Judaic/holiday programming
- Coordinate Step Up to Quality including weekly lesson plan creation, updates each student portfolio weekly, takes photos and participate in state Step Up to Quality reviews
- Communicate daily plan to staff
- Answer phones/communicate with parents
- Ensure safety of children and staff in Kids Club
- Supervise/engage with children on a daily basis
- Assist in the creation, administration and supervision for Vacation Camps including Winter/Spring Camp and all other Vacation Camps (MLK, President’s Day, Election Day, etc.)
- Lead and supervise monthly Kids Night Out (October-April) in collaboration with Assistant Director
- Shop for needed food/supplies
- Other duties as assigned
Additional Responsibilities:
- Oversees Kids Club’s daily functioning in manager’s absence
- Participate in all licensing (ODJFS) trainings and requirements
- CPR/First Aid
- Communicable Disease
- Child Abuse
- Participate in Step Up to Quality (SUTQ) professional development and requirements
- 10 hours of child development course/year
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in education, social work or closely related field or equivalent experience
- Experience working with children, youth and parents
- Experience supervising part time staff (high school and college)
- Organized and task-oriented; must have the ability to follow through with all assignments
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Enthusiastic, Responsible and Personable
- Ability to be a team player when working within the children and camping departments as well as other agency departments.
- Understanding of developmentally appropriate activities and behaviors for elementary school aged children.
- Experience with children’s behavior management issues.
