This posting is for 1099 Independent Contractor position. This posting is NOT for a W2 employee position.
The Assistant Stage Manager for the Wolf Theatre Academy main-stage productions focuses on hands-on training and experience in stage-management. The ASM will be working alongside a professional stage manager and will lead the backstage crew. This Academy level class of teens and pre-teens rehearse a full production for 4 and half weeks, culminating in 5 performances. This position will include learning to run rehearsals, taking blocking/prop notes, running a show backstage, learning to call a show and building communication skills. This position is ideal for recently graduated high school students or current college students looking to gain more experience with arts education and stage management.
Responsibilities
- The ASM assist with set up (approx. 30min) and breakdown (Approx 15 min) for all rehearsals and shows. They will assist with setup and breakdown for both rehearsals and shows.
- Take detailed prop and blocking notes during rehearsals
- Create prop tracking and run crew paperwork for shows
- Help to supervise rehearsals when appropriate and run lines/music numbers when needed
- Learn to develop Stage Manager rehearsal and show reports
- Provide administrative support (class check-in, clerical prep, etc.)
- Assist in gathering information for the show programs
- Limited personal phone use during rehearsals and show runs. The ASM is expected to remain present and focused to handle any issues that may suddenly arise.

Dates: Thursday, June 12 – Sunday, July 13
Monday – Friday: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm;
Performances: Wednesday July 9th @ 7:00pm Thursday June 10 @ 11:00am and 7:00 pm; Friday July 11 @ 11:00 am; Sunday, July 13 @ 1:00 pm
Potential Weekend Tech Call on 29th & Sunday June 28th
Qualifications
Helpful Skills
- Customer service skills and experience; affable, outgoing personality
- Basic computer proficiency (esp. MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Comfortable with kids, parents and artists
- Familiarity with arts environment
