Internship Title : The Center for Early Relationship Support - Clinical Intern

Hours : 16-24 hours per week

Job Location : Waltham, MA

The Center for Early Relationship Support (CERS) offers internship opportunities tailored to advanced level, graduate students studying social work, psychology, and other mental health disciplines. The program is designed to provide hands-on experience in community-based treatment for master's-level students who are passionate about perinatal and infant mental health.

Prerequisites :

The CERS internship is particularly suitable for master's-level students who have at least one year of prior internship or experience working with parents and / or young children and are eager to expand their understanding in perinatal and infant mental health. Students are required to attend several clinical and group supervision meetings, all of which take place on Mondays.

CERS caters to a multicultural, multilingual population and strongly encourages students whose ethnic / cultural background and language skills align with those of their clients to apply.

Prospective interns should :

  • Demonstrate a strong desire to learn and deepen their understanding of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, as well as factors influencing early relationships between young children and their caregivers.
  • Show interest in exploring dyadic treatment to assist young children (ages 0-5) and families coping with various traumatic experiences, such as medical complications, immigration, paternal substance use disorder, traumatic separations, and more.
  • Be able to commit 16-24 hours per week for a full academic year or 16 hours per week for a full calendar year.

What we offer :

  • Paid stipend of up to $1,600-$2,400 per internship year.
  • Weekly individual reflective supervision, biweekly clinical group supervision.
  • Take part in agency-wide training and seminars on relevant clinical topics. Additionally, interns will attend clinical team meetings, present case formulations during group supervision, and may have the opportunity to learn about the work of parent groups as well as access to other training opportunities based on their interests and staff availability to coordinate.
