The Resource Specialist will pursue and maintain a comprehensive list of all government (local, state and Federal), nonprofit and other community resources to support survivors of the LA Wildfires in their recovery. The Resource Specialist will also provide outreach to the community to promote the disaster case management program and case management services as needed. This position is time limited and is estimated to end after two years.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA Degree in Social Work or related health or social services field. 
  • Minimum one year case management experience preferred.
  • Disaster case management experience a plus.
  • Must have strong research and organizational skills.
  • Valid California driver’s license with reliable transportation and insurance is required.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral, and ability to utilize telehealth platforms.
  • Experience developing and providing presentations strong desired.
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel Programs.
  • Strong research and organizational skills with ability to proactively engage in contacting and connecting with community resources/programs/eligibility criteria.
  • Candidates must have interest and demonstrated ability to work in an interdisciplinary community setting.
  • Be culturally sensitive, able to work with a multicultural client population and work in a non-judgmental manner. 
  • Foster positive growth and outcomes as part of a collaborative team.
  • Able to maintain professional boundaries.
  • Must pass a criminal background check (Live Scan fingerprinting) and drug screen prior to beginning employment.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Research, identify, and maintain and continuously update database of all government, community agencies and local resources available for disaster survivors to assist clients on their road back to pre-disaster self-sufficiency to ensure integrity and reliability of information. 
  • Monitor efficacy of all referrals and resources offered to clients.
  • Maintains open lines of communication with all organizations providing disaster recovery resources
  • Conduct outreach to raise awareness of disaster case management program and represent JFSLA at community meetings and events.
  • Build strong collaborative and effective working relationships with staff at other community and government agencies that are serving survivors of the wildfires.
  • Regularly present new resources to the JFSLA Disaster Case Management team and other community-based stakeholders and funders.
  • Assist with intake as needed to triage clients who need only information and referral for those not moving to short or long-term case management.  
  • Maintain proper and timely documentation/records of information provided in the electronic health record - Efforts to Outcomes (ETO), as well as 
  • Additional related responsibilities as required
