Summary:
The Pantry Assistant supports the daily operations of the Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry.
Essential Functions:
- Shops with and for guests.
- Registers pantry guests who meet eligibility requirements.
- Sorts and stocks food items in the pantry, coolers, freezers, and warehouse.
- Inspects food items to ensure quality and freshness.
- Keeps pantry, warehouse, and reception area clean and neat.
- Serves as an on-site contact for volunteers onsite to help them stay on task, feel supported, and follow pantry guidelines.
- Assists with the removal of trash and recycling.
- Addresses and/or directs volunteer and client concerns to the appropriate team member.
- Provides guests additional community resources.
- Assists with program related correspondence.
Additional Responsibilities:

May be responsible for one or more of the following:
- Prepares delivery orders for homebound guests
- Assembles community resources to share with pantry guests
- Demonstrates teamwork and support of the JFS mission and values
- Performs other duties as required or assigned
- Complies with all company policies and standards

Education: High School diploma or GED
Work Experience: One years of experience in program management.

- Ability to communicate information calmly in a high-stress situation
- Ability to work effectively with program volunteers
- Ability to use office equipment, computers and common software programs.

Work Environment
Work is typically performed in an inside warehouse/food pantry setting and associated office area. Occasional time outside and evening and weekend hours may be required.
Physical Demands
This position requires an above average amount of physical efforts including standing, lifting, and carrying light to moderately heavy products or equipment, up to 50 pounds.
Travel
May require travel to other agencies/organizations throughout the area.
