Position Summary:
The VP, Finance manages the daily accounting operations which include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
The VP, Finance works with departments within the organization to support the organizational needs while following best practices, complying with internal controls and GAAP.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Manage accounting department on accounts, ledgers and reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP standards, regulatory requirements, and compliance for non-profits.
· Manage the financial month-end close process to ensure timely financial and accurate reporting for strategic decision making.
· Prepare monthly financial statements and other reports for senior management.
· Lead annual audit process and serve as the primary liaison to the external auditor.
· Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial reporting requirements.
· Direct the preparation of annual and interim financial statements, as well as annual IRS Form 990s.
· Meet with all departments to determine annual budgets and bi-annual financial forecasts.
· Prepare monthly cash flow analysis, Support in cash flow projections.
· Analyze monthly operating results against department budgets. Interpret financial data and determine accurate financial coding of transactions.
· Prepare financial statements and budgets for grant proposal and grant reports.
· Oversee cash balances ensuring that there is sufficient liquidity to meet operations needs with excess funds prudently invested.
· Maintain and update Finance’s Policies and Procedures Manual.
· Supervise Finance department staff and oversee daily operations of the finance department.
· Monitor and maintain internal controls and safeguards for receipt of revenues, costs, payables, program budgets and actual expenditures.
· Support the CFO; provide backup in work with Board and Committees.
· Prepare and present reports to the board, finance, investment, and audit committees, and senior leadership team.
· Support preparation for financial committee meetings; attend as needed.
· Direct and work on special assignments with agencies.
Qualifications and Success Factors:
· Master’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration or the equivalent in experience required.
· 10 years of progressively responsible financial/accounting experience in the non-profit industry with previous supervisory experience
· Strong knowledge of GAAP
· CPA Preferred
· Knowledge of MIP Accounting Software preferred.
· Strong knowledge of basic office computing, including MS Office (Word and Excel)
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required (Verbal and Written)
· Highly organized with proven ability to manage multiple tasks
· Sound work ethic and flexibility to get the job done
Work Environment:
Position is eligible to work from home occasionally in accordance with Federation policies. When working from home, employee must:
· Follow all Federation policies and procedures,
· Be available to other employees during Federation’s normal business hours,
· Not work from a public place (e.g., coffee shop, library, etc.) and/or join a public, unsecure wi-fi network when working with sensitive or confidential information,
· Coordinate with IT department to maintain appropriate computer equipment and connectivity.
Pay Rate:
In addition to benefits, the annual salary for this role ranges between $115,000 and $130,000. We benchmark our salary ranges for new hires in relation to the role, level, and role location; however, we consider a multitude of factors, to include relevant experience, skills, and education/training, to determine compensation within the identified range.
