Membership and Social Engagement Director Membership and Social Engagement DirectorThis position is a full-time, exempt (40 hour / week max) employee of Temple Shalom and reports to the Executive Director. While there may be infrequent evening or weekend events that require an exempt employee’s attendance, Temple Shalom offers a flexible schedule to compensate exempt employees for their time.Membership Recruitment and RetentionWorks with staff to track L’Shalom renewal mailings and responses Updates application forms, the website, and new member packets.Works with volunteers and staff to plan and publicize new member events.Fields calls and visits by prospective members.Performs regular follow-up with prospective and new members.Works with staff to create membership marketing campaigns including articles, ads, and promotional materials.Develops related budgets and tracks expenditures.Member TrackingPrepares monthly reports for Executive Director and Board meetings.Prepares Membership reports for Annual Report.Creates monthly demographics reports and other membership reports when requested.Social EngagementWorks with members and staff to launch and oversee Temple Shalom “Circles” (Affinity Groups).Serves as staff support for Sisterhood and Men’s Club.Develops and maintains ways of acknowledging and thanking volunteers.CommunicationsComposes and sends emails to the congregation about relevant upcoming membership, Men’s Club, Sisterhood, and “Circles” events in coordination with the Communications Director.Serves as the primary backup for communications and marketing in the following areas : Managing the Temple calendars.Creating and sending all printed and digital communications, including but not limited to emails, text messages, The Voice, Shabbat Shalom, Kol Shalom, Simchas, condolence notes, and collateral materials for special events.Operating the “Owl” and the Temple Zoom account.Creating files for the Sanctuary and Saks Lobby screens.Other Responsibilities : Attends weekly staff meetings.Other duties as assigned by Executive Director.Qualifications and Skills : College degree or three years work experience in a related field.Knowledge and understanding of Jewish traditions and practices strongly preferred.Strong interpersonal skills and a proven track record of working well with others.Superior communication and writing skills.Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., MailChimp, Constant Contact, etc.).Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.Familiarity with Canva.
