As the Financial Controller at JF Denney, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing our financial operations and ensuring fiscal responsibility. This position is essential to our mission of maintaining financial integrity while supporting the growth and efficiency of our service offerings. This position will be a part of the management team that runs the daily operations of the business as well as maps out the future path for success.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Manage expense management processes to ensure cost efficiency across all departments.
- Develop financial models to support strategic decision-making and business planning.
- Prepare regulatory reports in compliance with applicable laws and standards.
- Supervise payroll functions to ensure accurate and timely processing for all employees.
- Conduct market analysis to identify trends that could impact financial performance.
- Implement internal controls to mitigate financial risks.
- Collaborate with management to enhance financial performance through effective financial management strategies.
- Daily management of global cash balances for all expenditures.
- Supervising and managing a five-member accounting team.
- Preparation of monthly and annual financial statements.
- Maintain professional relationships with banks and vendors.
- Completion of monthly bank reconciliations.
- Complete and file monthly state sales tax returns.
- Working with accounting team on customer collections and disputes.
- Coordinate with CPA firms to file annual tax returns.
- Working with IT firm to manage computer hardware/software.
- Collaborating with marketing team for continued brand development.
- Working with management on insurance renewals.
- Maintain fixed asset records and record monthly depreciation.
- Book monthly loan payments.
- Assist with customer service to include answering the phone when needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role in a construction or service-oriented industry.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts and principles with proven expense management skills.
- Experience with regulatory reporting requirements and compliance standards.
- Proficient in financial modeling techniques and analytical skills for data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication skills for team collaboration.
