Job Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director to join our team. The JFUMC CCC Director will maintain all operations of the CCC and supervise the staff to ensure the quality of the program.

Qualifications:

  • Have a strong love and desire to work with children and their families
  • Knowledge and passion for basic Christian values and ability to incorporate it into the daily work of the CCC.
  • Meet the state-required minimum qualifications for a licensed child care assistant director;
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Pass State and Federal criminal and child maltreatment background checks
  • Provide documentation of one of the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or related field (determined by the state).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a non-related field plus one of the following; 4 years of experience in early childhood education, Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or Birth-Prek Credential.
  • Associate degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or related field, plus six (6) years of experience in Early Childhood Education
  • Eight (8) years of experience in Early Childhood Education and completion of one (1) of the following:
  • Child Development Associate Credential (CDA)
  • Birth-Prek Credential
  • Director’s Credential or equivalent
  • Technical Certificate in Early Childhood Education
  • CPR certified
  • Ability to lead and manage staff
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer competency

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Thorough understanding of child care center operations
  • Strong organizational, communication, public relations, computer and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to coordinate center functions
  • Ability to implement policy and procedures
  • Knowledge and implementation of Ark DHS guidelines and state licensing
  • Comprehensive knowledge and proven success implementing programs for children based on developmentally appropriate practices
  • Accepts and respects differences in children, parents and coworkers

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Management

1. Maintain, at all times, high-quality child-care standards based on developmentally appropriate practices. We currently use the Abeka Curriculum and it would be required to learn this curriculum and train teachers appropriately to implement it.

Personnel Management:

2. Supervise all staff members of the child care center, including substitute staff and volunteers.

3. With the help and supervision of the board of directors to Oversee hiring process and orientation for all new staff.

4. Provide accurate and meaningful annual performance evaluations for all child care staff.

5. Oversee the day-to-day functions of the child care center and manage staff.

6. Work with the JFUMC CCC Board to develop and implement policies and procedures for the operation of the child care center.

7. Assure consistent compliance with all Ark DHS Minimum Standards, including maintenance of annual fire, health and other inspections.

8. Coordinate the annual licensing of the child care center with DHS

9. Oversee the maintenance of student and staff files according to DHS requirements.

10. Maintain open, consistent and effective communication with parents, providing parent education training, assistance and support as needed.

11. Provide reliable, accurate and timely information about the child care center to interested parties.

12. Follow attendance policy as assigned by the senior pastor and the board of directors.

Professional Growth and Development:

13. Attend professional development seminars to maintain an understanding of the current best practices of curriculum and administrative functions of child development programs. A minimum of 20 hours is required each year.

14. Oversee the training and professional development of all child care staff.

Church and Community Relations:

15. Articulate the center’s mission to employees and solicit support in realizing the mission.

16. Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.

17. Represent the center in a professional and Christian manner at all times and remind staff they represent the Church as well.

18. Promote a positive, caring climate for learning for staff, students, and parents

19. Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds.

20. Communicate effectively with staff, students and their families.

21. Work in conjunction with the congregation of Jacksonville First UMC to build bridges between church and the childcare center

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise all staff of the child care center, including substitute staff.

Working conditions:

Mental demands/Physical demands/Environmental factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. occasional prolonged and irregular hours, frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling; prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.

Evaluation: This position will be evaluated annually by the JFUMC Senior Pastor and submitted to the CCC Board of Directors.

Schedule: Full time, hours may vary

Pay is commensurate with experience
