Job Summary
The Accountant I position at Jim Myers and Sons, Inc. (JMS) is a vital member of the Accounting Team. This is a detail-driven, team-oriented position that will assist colleagues with their duties and responsibilities while taking ownership of their own individual tasks. . This position will report to and work alongside the VP of finance, as well as with the Accounting Manager and Senior Accountant.
Responsibilities include
- Accounts Payable –
- 3-way match including verification of pricing and sales tax
- ERP (Epicor) Invoice entry
- Vendor payment processing
- Collaboration with vendors and JMS teams such as purchasing or shipping & receiving
- Assist with Year End 1099 Processing
- Continuous improvement of process efficiency
- Fixed Assets –
- Tracking additions and disposals to fixed asset & provide insights into cost of asset ownership
- Assistance in budgetary prep and analysis for future capital purchases
- General Ledger –
- Preparing account-level reviews and budget-to-actual insights
- Assist with account reconciliations (i.e. prepaid accounts)
- Month-end journal entries for depreciation, commissions, & other similar items
- Ad hoc GL reviews and account maintenance
- Miscellaneous –
- Assist reconciliation of HRIS PTO (payroll)
- Assist Contracts Manager in administrative requests
- Assist accounting and finance department with various administrative tasks
Qualifications
- Minimum 0-2 years relative accounting experience
- Team player with the ability to be proactive and take direction
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience with ERP systems (Epicor is a plus) as well as general accounting software (i.e. QBO)
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, minimum of associate’s degree or equivalent experience required in Accounting
