About The Role
Jim Speiser & Sons, Inc. (JSS) is a growing electrical contractor looking to build its team with an Electrical Estimator/Project Manager. The position will be a full-time salaried position (part-time could be considered if desired). The ideal candidate should be a skilled, self-motivated professional with a minimum of 5-10 years of electrical estimating experience within the commercial and industrial construction sectors primarily. As an Electrical Estimator, you will provide detailed pricing and prepare electrical cost estimates for the development of bid quotations. Past field experience as an electrician is helpful, but not required. Project Management responsibilities will require working with general contractors, engineers, material suppliers, and JSS employees to ensure submittals are accurately spec’d, approved, ordered, and supplied to the jobsite according to project time lines.
Your compensation will be commensurate with your work experience.
Job Requirements:
- Produce precise electrical estimates for various project types, including commercial and industrial, occasional residential.
- Ability to read and understand structural, mechanical, electrical, tele-data, security, and fire alarm construction drawings and specifications as they relate to electrical installations and alignment with the National Electrical Code.
- Develop project take-offs and equipment/material counts based upon the specifications, drawings, and project requirements.
- Coordination and communication with company owners, contractors, and material suppliers to meet estimating and awarded project submittal deadlines and requirements.
- Ability to organize and prepare scopes of work and price proposals.
- Experience with design-build is preferred.
- Proficiency with estimating software.
- Review contracts and subcontracts for accuracy.
- Some project management may be required in regards to ordering necessary materials for awarded contracts.
What You Will Need to Be Successful
- A minimum of 5-10 years of electrical estimating experience.
- An understanding of the National Electric Code (NEC) and the commercial and industrial construction industries.
- Experience with electrical estimating software.
- Experience in office technology including email, Microsoft Office programs, primarily Excel, Word, and Adobe.
- Ability to create, save, send .pdf documents and other files.
- Must have strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
