- Inspect outgoing items visually to ensure accuracy and conformity with orders.
- Create and apply labels and shipping instructions to containers.
- Complete required forms for major freight carriers.
- Enter daily shipping records into the computer system.
- Accurately input data for Advance Ship Notices (ASNs).
- Interpret packing slips, enter accurate information into the system, and acknowledge goods shipments.
- Maintain cost-effective freight charges, including expedited and plating services.
- Update shipping instructions from customer service, ensuring all updates are communicated and documented.
- Determine shipping methods for materials using knowledge of procedures, routes, and rates.
- Arrange carrier pick-ups per customer purchase orders and shipping instructions.
- Record shipment data, such as weights and charges, for accounting and recordkeeping.
- Package finished goods daily according to the production schedule.
- Work with transport representatives to address issues like damages, shortages, or specification nonconformance.
- Collaborate with team members to prepare outgoing shipments.
- Oversee outgoing shipment activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper condition.
- Review shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities and methods.
- Analyze and standardize procedures to improve worker efficiency.
- Assist in physical inventory counts.
- Match picks to shipments, ensuring accurate alignment of purchase order numbers and part numbers.
- Compare purchase orders to bar code labels for accuracy.
- Maintain an adequate supply of shipping materials and items.
- Keep the work area clean and organized.
- Use email and customer websites to set up shipments.
- Coordinate with the Production Scheduler to align production capacity, inventory, and open order statuses.
- Generate bills of lading for daily shipments.
- Create shipping labels and serial tags as needed to meet daily requirements.
- Load and unload trucks as necessary.
- Train team members on technical duties and responsibilities.
Requirements :
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
1. Must know DOT or have DOT training if loading or unloading a truck with Hazardous chemicals.
2. Must have basic shipping experience.
3. Ability to key in data, type and operate a computer keyboard.
4. Must have good working knowledge of part numbers and part usage.
5. Must possess the ability to interpret instructions and effectively communicate
6. Ability to obtain a valid operator and forklift license
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
1. Frequent lifting for movement of boxes or pans. Reaching above shoulder heights and / or below the waist.
2. Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing and pulling of parts containers.
3. Must be able to sit or stand as needed.
4. May include lifting up to 35 lbs
