ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following list outlines the essential duties and responsibilities for the Secondary Operator role. These responsibilities are intended to provide clarity on the expectations of the role, support departmental objectives, and ensure the delivery of the highest quality products to our customers.
1. Production Planning and Scheduling
- Utilize the Jireh Intranet to access and review the daily production schedule in Plex, ensuring full understanding of the current job status and daily production needs to inform decision-making.
2. Safety Compliance
- Perform daily Safety Startup Checklist and promptly identify any equipment-related issues to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
3. Shift Communication and Work Center Review
- Review the status of work centers from the previous shift or job using the Shift Communication Sheet to ensure continuity and smooth transition between shifts.
4. Equipment Operation
- Power up and power down equipment as necessary, following established operational procedures to maintain production flow.
5. Work Instructions Review
- Utilize Jobweb to access and review online work instructions, ensuring the most current information is followed for the assigned job.
6. Job Time Management
- Use Plex to accurately start or stop job timers to ensure proper tracking of job duration and productivity metrics.
7. Material Handling and Component Changes
- Assist with material or component changes and ensure proper transfer of materials to the designated work center, utilizing Plex for tracking purposes.
8. Quality Control
- Conduct quality control checks on parts, utilizing gauges and measurement devices to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards.
9. Downtime Tracking
- Utilize Plex to start and stop downtime entries as required, ensuring accurate documentation of production interruptions.
10. Inventory and Tagging
- Issue Work In Progress (WIP) components and steel tags as necessary to facilitate inventory management and tracking.
11. Packaging
- Package finished products in accordance with the online work instructions. This may include lifting and moving materials weighing up to 40 lbs.
12. Production Labeling
- Utilize Plex to generate production labels as required for finished goods and packaging.
13. Final Quality Control
- Perform final quality checks on parts, ensuring compliance with product specifications and identifying any potential issues before completion.
14. Communication of Equipment Setups
- Clearly communicate press or equipment setup status using andon lights and the paging system to ensure operational transparency.
15. Die Tagging
- Properly tag dies to indicate their correct status and ensure accurate tracking throughout the production process.
16. Production Schedule Updates
- Use Plex to update the production schedule with the appropriate die status, including any changes in run dates or job assignments.
17. Maintenance Communication
- Record and communicate any die or equipment repair needs within Plex, and support die changeover processes to minimize downtime.
18. Equipment Setup Assistance
- Provide assistance with press setup, in-die setup, and overall equipment setup as required to support production needs.
19. Team Collaboration
- Offer assistance to other team members on jobs that require additional support, ensuring efficient workflow and task completion.
20. Cross-Functional Teamwork
- Continuously develop skills across multiple work centers to enhance versatility and contribute to team functionality.
21. Scrap and Inventory Management
- Utilize Plex to process scrap transactions for components, WIP, and other inventory items, ensuring proper inventory control.
22. 5S Adherence
- Follow daily 5S protocols as outlined on the shift communication sheet, assessing and ensuring the time required to complete necessary tasks is met.
23. Shift Handover
- Communicate shift status and provide relevant job-specific information for the incoming shift via the Shift Communication Sheet to ensure a seamless transition.
24. Weekly 5S Audit
- Conduct weekly 5S audits and report any safety concerns or missing tools to maintain an organized and safe work environment.
25. Efficiency and Reporting
- Submit weekly reports detailing job efficiencies, scrap levels, and downtime to provide insight into production performance and areas for improvement
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Must be able to read and write.
2. High school diploma or equivalent.
3. Add and subtract decimals, fractions, and percentages. Capable of using various machine tools, micrometers, calipers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Extensive standing, recurring bending as well as moderate to heavy lifting.
2. Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
3. Continuous mental and/or visual attention to operate machine(s).
4. Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
