Coffee Barista
Jittery Joe's is a legendary Athens coffee company and we are thrilled to add this fine brand to Righton Books, our Redfern Village bookstore. This is NOT a summer position, so if you are going back to school in a few weeks, please do not apply.

We are looking for three spectacular Baristas! This position requires that you:

• Provide exceptional customer service to all our visitors.
• Serve food and drink offerings in a manner consistent health department standards.
• Learn our menu and be able to prepare our specialty tea and coffee offerings.
• Maintain a clean, organized and sanitary workspace.
• Be able to walk, bend, stand, for extended periods of time.
• Be able to lift/carry at least 25lbs.
• Perform all cleaning, organizing, stocking and prep tasks on a daily basis to maintain the smooth functioning of the café.
• Prep tasks include making cold brew.
• Work efficiently as a part of a team, prioritizing customers, and supporting your co-workers in all areas of the job. The bar is a small confined place. You must understand how to work in a busy, crowded space.
• Have a fundamental skillset on bar – quality shot pulling and milk steaming.
• Latte art a plus.
• Have knowledge of non-espresso brew methods, and consistently produce these products up to our standards.
• Ensure the proper stock levels of espresso beans, milks, syrups, etc. during regular service.
• Clearly communicate needs to co-workers, maintaining an efficient work flow on bar, and ensuring all materials and ingredients are properly stocked.
• Understand espresso theory, ratios, and brewing methods – or undergo training.
• Maintain an impeccably clean bar, including tools and accessories, throughout service.
• Be an exemplary employee in terms of work-ethic, customer service, and co-workers.

We are looking for someone who can work approximately 20-30 hours per week. You’ll be working hard, sometimes it will be stressful so you need to work well under some pressure. Patience is a virtue as you keep a good attitude with customers. Our connections with our customers is what distinguishes us from other shops in the area and keeps people coming back. We are looking to hire positive, motivated baristas. We love our team members to have a solid work ethic, good nature, an interest (or passion!) in coffee, and a desire to grow with us professionally. Compensation is very competitive and all tips are yours. This is a one person shop, so no splitting tips. There is no food preparation required as we serve only locally baked pastry items.
