JK Executive Strategies is proud to partner with a growing Electrical Contracting company in search of an Estimator to join its team! The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for traffic signal installation, highway lighting, and other electrical infrastructure projects. The Estimator will analyze project specifications, collaborate with vendors and subcontractors, and provide competitive bids to secure contracts for both public and private sector clients.

The company serves both public and private sectors, including direct contracts with municipal governments and the state of New York. Comprehensive services encompass excavation, conduit installation, directional boring, foundation drilling, fiber optic cable installation and splicing, vehicle detection loops, and oversized load escorts.

Responsibilities

• Review project plans, specifications, and requirements to develop accurate cost estimates.
• Perform quantity take-offs and prepare pricing for materials, labor, and equipment.
• Analyze bid opportunities and determine project feasibility.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to gather necessary cost data.
• Identify potential risks and cost-saving opportunities in the bidding process.
• Prepare and submit bid proposals in a timely manner.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, market pricing, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain organized records of estimates and project costs for reference and reporting.
• Assist in negotiating contracts and change orders with clients and subcontractors.
• Conduct site visits to assess project scope, gather critical information, and enhance understanding of project requirements and challenges for more accurate cost estimation.

Requirements

• Two years of estimating experience in Construction Management, Engineering, Electrical Contracting or a related field required.
• Experience working with or for NYS DOT is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of traffic signal installation, highway lighting, and underground utilities.
• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contracts.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines effectively.

Salary Range

• $75k-$90k
