Job description
Position Overview: The Closed Door Pharmacy Technician will manage the operations of a warehouse focused on cold-chain medications, ensuring the accurate receiving, handling, and storage of these medications and phase-changing materials per federal and state regulations, as well as company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and document temperature and humidity levels in storage areas to maintain medication integrity and ensure the effectiveness of phase-changing materials for daily shipping.
- Collaborate with pharmacists and suppliers for accurate and timely receipt and delivery of cold-chain medications and shipping supplies.
- Assist with regular inventory counts and check expiration dates.
- Conduct routine audits of cold-chain equipment and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Help maintain and calibrate cold-chain equipment.
- Coordinate the daily turnover and replenishment of shipping supplies, including the proper restocking of fridges and freezers with medications and phase-changing materials.
- Foster and maintain positive, collaborative team relationships.
- Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with cold-chain fulfillment tasks, adhering to cold-chain management protocols.
- Accurately fill prescription orders by retrieving medications, counting quantities, selecting lots, labeling, and packaging products.
- Verify prescription information for completeness and accuracy.
- Identify improvement areas and assist with implementing solutions.
- Maintain patient and client confidentiality, adhering to all relevant privacy laws.
- Follow established safety and quality assurance protocols for medication storage and handling.
- Manage supply inventory using a first-in, first-out system.
- Handle pallet disposal.
- Perform additional projects and tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Dependable, adaptable to changing conditions, and able to work independently.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move boxes and products throughout the day.
- Proficiency in operating a pallet jack.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team framework alongside pharmacists and other healthcare professionals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Over 1 year of experience as a pharmacy technician.
- Previous experience in pharmaceutical warehousing and cold-chain product supply.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, medications, and dosage forms.
- Experience with pharmacy management software.
- Over 1 year of experience in inventory management.
- Understanding of pharmacy regulations, including HIPAA compliance.
Work Environment:
- This role operates in a well-lit mail order distribution pharmacy warehouse.
- The position routinely involves using pharmaceutical equipment and safety supplies.
Physical Requirements:
- Candidates must be able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 pounds, and use a computer and barcode scanner.
