Job Summary
JKPPA, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Jenkintown, PA is seeking an experienced part time Bookkeeper/Accounting Specialist for an onsite position, with an estimated weekly commitment of 20-25 hours. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced individual with 5 years experience, non-profit and legal experience preferred.
The Bookkeeper/Accounting Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting principles, government regulations, and grant requirements. The role involve managing day-to-day financial transactions and general ledger, such as payroll, accounts payable, donation and grant management, etc. The Bookkeeper/Accounting Specialist will work closely with the Executive Director, as well as the financial board members, to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Transaction Processing - process all routine financial transactions, including accounts payable, all donations, grants, electronic payments, ensuring accuracy and timely recording.
- Payroll Management - administer payroll through payroll system, input payroll data into accounting system, etc.
- General Ledger Maintenance - accurately and timely record journal entries into the general ledger system for all expenses, payroll, donations, grants, and other financial activities. Ensure the general ledger is regularly updated and all accounts remain accurate and relevant.
- Financial Records - maintain comprehensive financial records, including journal entries, tracking insurance policies, overseeing workers compensation audits, etc. Prepare reports as needed.
- Month End Close - perform all necessary duties to complete the monthly close to ensure that all transactions, including accruals, are properly documented and posted; all bank accounts are reconciled to verify balances; balance sheet accounts are reconciled as well to ensure book balances align with monthly financial activities. Prepare monthly reports as required.
- Grants - ensure proper recording of grants to include adherence to grant requirements, accurate recordkeeping, deferred liability recognition, and compliance with grant audits.
- Financial Data Management - maintain an organized and efficient system for all financial records, assisting in the implementation of accounting procedures.
- Tax Filings and Audits - Assist and provide support with our internal financial team and public accounting firm as needed to complete all necessary filings.
- Compliance - ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local accounting regulations.
- Independence - Ability to work independently, while managing competing deadlines and priorities
Qualifications include:
- Proven experience, 5 years, in bookkeeping or accounting specialist roles, preferably for a non-profit organization
- Proficient with Quickbooks and Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and non-profit financial practices
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with staff, board members, and donors.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
